Zusammenfassung

Die Behandlung von Patienten mit schizophrenen Störungen richtet sich nach klaren, empirisch begründeten Behandlungsprinzipien, die in einer Reihe von Behandlungsleitlinien zugänglich sind (s. unten; Gaebel, in Druck). In Ländern mit einem strukturierten Gesundheitswesen findetsie in einem gegliederten Versorgungssystem statt. Der Psychiater ist hier zwar nicht notwendigerweise die erste Anlaufstelle, wird aber als Spezialist in aller Regel — zumindest bei einer Erstmanifestation konsultiert und leitet — je nach Standort im Versorgungssystem — weitere Behandlungsschritte ein. Im Rahmen einer multiprofessionellen Behandlungsorientierung ist er Letztverantwortlicher für die Aufstellung und Erfüllung eines Gesamtbehandlungsplans.
