Zusammenfassung

Mit dem Altern psychisch Kranker kann der Einfluß der Lebenszeit auf den Verlauf psychiatrischer Krankheiten gemeint sein („natural history“) oder aber die Bedeutung der Involution ab einem willkürlich definierten Zeitpunkt, z. B. dem 60. Lebensjahr. Mit der Verlängerung der Lebensspanne kann außerdem von Interesse sein, inwiefern die im Präsenium neu auftretenden Krankheiten besondere Altersverläufe zeigen; denn heute relativ spät Erkrankte können im Gegensatz zu früheren Kohorten mit bis zu etwa 30 Jahre dauernden Krankheitsverläufen rechnen. In dieser Übersicht soll in erster Linie der Eirifluß der Involution auf ehedem bestehende Krankheiten beschrieben werden, dort, wo bereits Beobachtungen zur Frage der Späterkrankten vorliegen, werden wir versuchen, auch diese zu berücksichtigen.
