Ziel der Diagnostik und Klassifikation in der Kinder- und Jugendpsychiatrie ist es, Informationen über die Probleme eines Kindes oder Jugendlichen und seiner Familie so zu ordnen, daß deren künftiger Verlauf vorhergesagt und sinnvolle Interventionen ausgewählt werden können. Die Basis hierfiir ist, daß der akute Zustand und die Entstehungsgeschichte einer Störung deren Weiterentwicklung voraussehen lassen.
