Zusammenfassung
Setzt man Menschen extremen Umweltbedingungen aus und läßt sie mit diesen zurechtkommen, so ergeben sich daraus eine Reihe neu beschriebener psychiatrischer Phänomene, auf die unsere Seele und unser Körper weder phylogenetisch noch ontogenetisch vorbereitet sind. In dem Maße, wie wir weitere Fortschritte dabei erzielen, in widrigen Umwelten wie in Arktis und Antarktis, auf den Höhen der Berge und in den Tiefen des Ozeans und des Weltalls zurechtzukommen, mach en wir bei der erzwungenen Anpassung an diese veränderten extremen Bedingungen neue Entdeckungen über das menschliche Verhalten und die Seele.
