Zusammenfassung

Die Behandlung drogenkonsumierender oder -abhängiger Patienten stellt sowohl den Therapeuten als auch das Umfeld des Behandelten und nicht zuletzt ihn selbst immer wieder auf eine harte Probe. Vielfältige Auseinandersetzungen während der Behandlung, Abbrüche und Wiederaufnahmen der Therapie und oftmals auch gescheiterte Ansätze prägen sich stärker ein, als die auch nicht seltenen positiven Verläufe. Die Entscheidung darüber, welcher mögliche Weg der aussichtsreichste ist, fällt nicht leicht. Hier ist insbesondere nochmals darauf zu verweisen, daß Entwicklung, Verlauf und Beendigung einer Abhängigkeit von illegalen Drogen und anderen psychoaktiven Substanzen als langfristige Krankheitsprozesse zu vestehen sind. Es ist eben jener „wellenförmige“ Verlauf zu erinnern, der den Therapeuten oft in trügerische Ruhe versetzt oder ihn zu anderen Zeitpunkten mit der Intensität des Rückfalls konfrontiert, „wenn niemand damit gerechnet“ hat.
