Zusammenfassung
Allein verursacht das Alter an den Atemwegen und der Lunge keine Erkrankung. Das Alter schränkt aber die Leistungsbreite der Lunge ein. Außerdem nehmen Schäden der Atemwege und Infektionen der Lunge mit dem Alter zu. Da ältere Patienten häufig Begleiterkrankungen haben, gehen Beschwerden und Risiken nicht nur von einem Organ aus. Dadurch ist auch die Kompensationsmöglichkeit durch den gesamten Organismus begrenzt. Bei multimorbiden Patienten sind dann mehrere Medikamente notwendig, die untereinander interferieren können.
