Zusammenfassung

Der Streit zwischen Erhalt und Ersatz des hinteren Kreuzbandes geht über drei Jahrzehnte. Die Argumente beider Lager sind eher theoretischer Natur als von tatsächlicher klinischer Relevanz. Mittel- und langfristige Beobachtungen von kreuzbanderhaltenden oder -substituierenden Prothesen zeigen vergleichbare Resultate für beide Konzepte. Bei 99% der zu operierenden Kniegelenke ist das hintere Kreuzband intakt, sodass es in der Mehrzahl der Fülle erhalten werden kann (Scott 1982).
