Zusammenfassung
Der Divertikelbefall stellt die weltweit häufigste Erkrankung des Dickdarms dar. Hierbei ist die Divertikulitis mit ihren unterschiedlichen Schweregraden neben der Divertikelblutung die wichtigste Komplikationsform, wobei entzündliche Veränderungen meist im Linkskolon und die Blutung in relativer Häufigkeit eher rechts zu finden ist. Aufgrund der im Sigmadarm erhöhten Druckverhältnisse zeigt sich dort die höchste Inzidenz an Divertikelbildung. Neben dem ohnehin häufigerem Vorkommen der Divertikel im Linkskolon sind zusätzlich spezifische pathogenetische Gesichtspunkte und anatomische Gegebenheiten für die entzündlichen Komplikationen in diesem Bereich verantwortlich.
