Abstract
This Country Report seeks to provide an indication of the extent to which current New Zealand law (and, in the absence of law, practice) is consistent with the standards or requirements embodied in the European Convention for the Protection o f Human Rights and Dignity o f the Human Being with regard to the application of Biology and Medicine: Convention on Human Rights and Biomedicine (1997, European Treaty Series — No 164). This will be done by way of commentary on Articles 1 to 22 of the Convention.
Professor Skegg is grateful to his colleagues Associate Professor JB Dawson and Mrs NS Peart for their helpful comments on an earlier version of this paper.
