Abstract
In this paper, weather effects on Dutch retail sales have been investigated. For that purpose a single regression model has been developed and estimated, with the average monthly sales growth per retail shop type as the dependent variable. The data are based on a panel of Dutch retail shops, for which monthly sales figures have been obtained for the period January 1987 — July 1996. Weather variables of temperature and precipitation are included in the model and the effects on sales growth will be discussed in the paper.
