Im Zusammenhang mit der Feldtheorie stößt man oftmals auf das Problem, wie sich das Produkt von zwei Operatoren A(x), B(x) in der Nähe von x = y (oder auch auf dem Lichtkegel, (x – y)2 = 0) verhält. Robert Wilson hat eine Entwicklung dieses Produkts in einem vollständigen System lokaler Operatoren {i(x)} bewiesen, und zwar in der Form
(Ci:c Zahl-Funktion).
