Zusammenfassung
Der Begriff „Dispersion“ beschreibt die Abhängigkeit der dielektrischen Antwortfunktionen (Dielektrizitätskonstante und Brechungsindex) von der Frequenz der Wellenfeldes. Sie wird durch die Wechselwirkung von elektromagnetischer Strahlung mit Materie auf atomarer Skala bestimmt. Daraus ergeben sich zahlreiche optische Phänomene. Außerdem betrachten wir einige Anwendungen der dielektrischen Antwort auf Effekte, die aufgrund räumlicher Anisotropie zustande kommen.
