Zusammenfassung

Die ersten Beschreibungen von Kleinhirnerkrankungen finden sich bei Gordon Holmes (1922, 1939). Wie aus Übersicht 7.1.1 beispielhaft hervorgeht, sind zerebelläre Dysfunktionen und Symptome auf eine Vielzahl von Krankheitsentitäten zurückzuführen, die jedoch nur zum Teil eine Indikation für eine Rehabilitationsbehandlung darstellen. So machen in der neurologischen Rehabilitation Patienten mit Kleinhirnerkrankungen nur einen geringen Anteil aus, wobei als Ursache vaskuläre Geschehen und demyelinisierende Erkrankungen (Multiple Sklerose) an erster Stelle stehen. Degenerative Erkrankungen sind entsprechend der geringen Prävalenz eher selten anzutreffen.
