Abstract
Awareness of muscle activity is important when planning and analyzing exercises. The therapist must select the exercise. Should the exercise be easy or difficult, performed consciously or subconsciously, with or against gravity? Should body weights be used or free weights? Klein-Vogelbach (1990a,b,c, 1991) was a master at observing movements and modifying exercises to fit the patient’s needs. To enable her students to learn her skills, she developed an exercise terminology which is familiar to all functional kinetics instructors and students.
