Zusammenfassung

Das Schädel-Hirn-Trauma (SHT) ist in den industrialisierten Ländern die häufigste Todesursache von Jugendlichen und Erwachsenen bis zum 40. Lebensjahr. In Deutschland erleiden jährlich etwa 30000 Menschen ein schweres SHT. Davon versterben ca.10000, weitere 4500 Patienten überleben schwerstbehindert und sind pflegebedürftig.
