Zusammenfassung
Zahlreiche Menschen leiden an Schlafstörungen, die nur z. T. Ausdruck psychischer oder organischer Grundkrankheiten pulmonaler, kardialer, neurogener oder hormoneller Genese sind (Clarenbach u. Birmanns 1986; Clarenbach u. Engrer 1991; Clarenbach et al. 1991). Qualitative Merkmale der Schlafstörung sind ein gestörter Nachtschlaf und/oder eine vermehrte Einschlafneigung am Tag (Clarenbach u. Birmanns 1986; Clarenbach u. Engrer 1991; Guilleminault u. Lugaresi 1983). Die internationale Klassifikation von Schlafstörungen („international classification of sleep disorders“, ICSD) wurde von der American Sleep Disorders Association (ASDA) vorgelegt und unterscheidet zwischen Dyssomnie, Parasomnie, Schlafstörungen bei organischen/psychiatrischen Erkrankungen und Schlafstörungen unterschiedlicher Genese (International Classification of Sleep Disorders 1990). Sie kodiert 80 verschiedene Schlafstörungen.
