Zusammenfassung
Trotz seiner herausragenden physikalischen und physikochemischen Eigenschaften (Tabelle 1) wird Desfluran bisher nur zurückhaltend in der pädiatrischen Anästhesie verwendet. Nur sehr wenige Publikationen beschäftigten sich mit dem Einsatz von Desfluran in der Kinderanästhesie [2, 8, 9, 11]. Wesentlichstes Ergebnis dieser Studien war, daß unter Desfluran eine Einleitung per inhalationem mit einer erhöhten Inzidenz an unerwünschten Nebenwirkungen wie Atemanhalten, Hustenreiz, Hypersalivation, und Laryngospasmus bei Kindern verbunden ist [7]. Aufgrund der schleimhautreizenden Wirkung von Desfluran und seiner daraus resultierenden negativen Auswirkungen, speziell auf die oberen Luftwege, wird der Einsatz von Desfluran bei der Einleitung per inhalationem vom Hersteller nicht empfohlen [6].
