Die wichtigste symptomatische Form des RLS tritt bei Niereninsuffizienz und bei dialysepflichtigen Patienten auf und ist nicht vom Ausmaß der begleitenden Polyneuropathie abhängig, sondern mit der Urämie selbst verknüpft (Callaghan 1966; Banerji u. Hurwitz 1970).
