Summary
Observations in 80 patients with traumatic subdural hematomas operated on by various methods were analyzed. Traditional surgical interventions such as open craniotomies were performed in 68 patients. Tweleve hematomas were removed by our newly developed biportal and multiportal endoscopic techniques, involving rigid endoscopes, video systems, and micro-surgical tools. In all of our interventions the subdural hematomas were completely removed. Biportal or multiportal endomicrosurgical evacuation of subdural hematomas is the method of choice, offering greater opportunities of radical hematoma while surgical traumatization is significantly decreased.
