Zusammenfassung

Wohl kaum ein Fachbegriff wird in Abhängigkeit vom Ausbildungsstand, aber auch der Interessenslage dermaßen unterschiedlich benutzt und interpretiert, wie der Terminus Rheumatismus. Der Interpretationsversuch: „Erkrankung des mesenchymalen Systems mit einer vielfältigen klinischen Symptomatik“ (Pschyrembel 1986) gibt in seiner Unschärfe breiten Raum für unterschiedliche Sinngebung und Interpretationsmöglichkeit. So wird unter dem Begriff degenerativer Rheumatismus alterungs- und verschleißbedingte arthrotische Veränderungen, unter dem Begriff extraartikulärer Rheumatismus sowohl Autoimmunerkrankungen wie Kollagenosen aber auch bislang nur unscharf definierte Krankheitsbilder wie Fibromyalgien subsummiert.
