Zusammenfassung

Die Ätiologie der Rotatorenmanschettenruptur ist bis heute nicht eindeutig geklärt. In der Vergangenheit wurden insbesondere extrinsische Faktoren, die zum primären Impingement führen, als wesentliche Ursache für Defekte der Rotatorenmanschette angesehen. Dabei wird zumeist noch zwischen einem „anatomischen Outlet-Syndrom“ mit mechanischer Bedrängung der Rotatorenmanschette z. B. bei Typ III-Akromion (Bigliani) (Abb. 1) bzw. arthrotischen Veränderungen des Akromioklavikulargelenks und einem „funktionellen Outlet-Syndrom“ bei pathologischen Bewegungsmustern nach Kapsel-Bandverletzungen oder Insuffizienz der schulterstabilisierenden Muskulatur unterschieden.
