Zusammenfassung

Die Korsettbehandlung, als wesentlicher Bestandteil des Therapieplanes für idiopathische Skoliosen, soll in erster Linie die Progredienz aufhalten und eine Operation verhindern helfen. Die Wirksamkeit einer Orthesenversorgung wurde lange bestritten. Seit dem Abschluß der kontrollierten prospektiven Studie der Scoliosis Research Society gibt es jedoch keinerlei Zweifel mehr an der Wirksamkeit von Orthesen in der Skoliosebehandlung (Nachemson und Peterson 1993).
