Zusammenfassung
Die Emission der Platingruppenelemente (PGE) Platin, Palladium und Rhodium aus Autoabgaskatalysatoren hat nachgewiesenermaßen zu einer signifikanten Erhöhung der Umweltkonzentrationen dieser Elemente entlang von Autoverkehrswegen geführt (Barefoot 1997; Zereini 1997). Die Konsequenzen dieser anthropogenen Kontamination können derzeit nur spekulativ diskutiert werden. Dies liegt auch darin begründet, daß gesicherte Erkenntnisse zur emittierten und im Boden deponierten PGE-Spezies bislang nur in ungenügendem Maße vorliegen. Verantwortlich für dieses Wissensdefizit sind die im Spurenelementbereich liegenden Konzentrationen der PGE, welche für eine direkte Speziesbestimmung zu niedrig sind. Die Realisierung experimenteller Modellsysteme bietet eine Möglichkeit zur Umgehung dieser Problematik.
