Part of the book series: Springer Series on Atoms+Plasmas ((SSAOPP,volume 26))

Summary

Charging processes of clusters in plasmas are considered. The cluster equilibrium charge state increases with cluster size and may be quite high. Clusters are positively charged in an arc plasma and carry a negative charge in a glow discharge plasma. The stability conditions for multicharged clusters are analyzed.
