Zusammenfassung

Das Vorhofflimmern stellt die häufigste aller anhaltenden supraventrikulären Arrhythmien dar. Pathophysiologisch liegen dem Vorhofflimmern multiple, sich wellenförmig simultan ausbreitende Reentrykreise zugrunde (Moe 1962). Allessie et al. konnten diese Hypothese validieren und zeigen, daß eine kritische Anzahl von Reentrykreisen für die Aufrechterhaltung von Vorhofflimmern erforderlich ist, die durch die Wellenlänge als Funktion der lokalen Refraktärzeit und der Leitungsgeschwindigkeit bestimmt wird (Allessie 1990).
