Abstract
India has the highest number of female Goddesses being worshipped. At the same time perhaps the highest number of female-feticides, highest female-child mortality rate and highest number of dowry-related female deaths. In India this existence of two categories of females is very obvious. One is of respected, worshipped, and powerful females; and the other of totally unwanted, downgraded ones, who practically have no human rights. To look into its genesis, we have to peep back into the historical perspectives.
