Zusammenfassung

Der menschliche Körper enthält ungefähr 1014 Zellen, jede Zelle etwa 65000–80000 Gene. Die mittlere Mutationsrate pro Gen und Generation liegt bei 106. Daraus wird klar, daß jeder Mensch ein Mosaik für viele genetische Erkrankungen darstellt. Dennoch hat dies normalerweise keine Folgen, da nur einzelne Zellen betroffen sind.
