Zusammenfassung
Kein Arzt wird weder eine bestimmte Therapie beginnen, wenn der Patient das eindeutig untersagt hat, noch fortsetzen, wenn er feststellt, daß sie seinem Patienten nicht mehr hilft. Diese scheinbar einfachen und plausiblen Aussagen berühren in der Notfall- und Intensivmedizin grundsätzliche ethische und juristische Positionen, weil man sich im unmittelbaren Spannungsfeld zwischen Leben und Tod, zwischen Behandlungspflicht und Sterbehilfe, Körperverletzung und Unterlassung, zwischen „verbotener“ Lebenszeitverkürzung und „gebotener“ Leidensminderung befindet.
