Abstract
Testicular descent is usually described in two stages: the intra-abdominal passage and the passage through the abdominal wall into the scrotum (see the reviews of Heyns and Hutson 1995; Hutson et al. 1990). Yet, the inner descent has often been denied and some authors like Felix (1911) and Politzer and Zeitlhofer (1958) supposed that it does not really occur but becomes apparent due to degeneration of the cranial part of gonads and growth of the dorsal abdominal wall relative to the gubernaculum (Rajfer and Welsh 1977; van der Schoot 1993a).
