Abstract
For many years it has been appreciated that patients surviving acute myocardial infarction experience an increased incidence of sudden death especially in the first 6 months to 1 year [1,2]. It is also known that the highest risk for such an event is in patients with markedly reduced ejection fraction particularly in association with complex ventricular ectopy [3,4]. There is also a suggestion that ventricular arrhythmias are associated with an enhanced mortality from sudden death independently of left ventricular dysfunction [3].
