Zusammenfassung
Folgt man der Deutung von Mishan (1981, S.64), so war Marshall der kardinalen Nutzentheorie verhaftet. Aber diese Interpretation ist strittig. Wie die Analyse des Marshallschen Maβes in den vorangegangenen Kapiteln zeigte, kann man die Bedingungen für ihre Zuverlässigkeit auch bei Annahme einer ordinalen Nutzenfunktion spezifizieren. Wie dem auch sei, J. R. Hicks (1943, 1945–46, 1956) wählte jedenfalls als Basis der Formulierung seiner Maβe die ordinale Nutzentheorie.
