Validation of Fission Product Capture Cross Sections by the Analysis of Thermal and Epithermal Integral Experiments

Since 1984, a large collaborative effort has been made in France by CEA, EDF and FRAMATOME to get an experimental validation of the fission product cross sections in a wide range of spectral conditions. Three different programs have been realised in the MINERVE facility at Cadarache. These programs consist of measurements, using the oscillation technique, of the reactivity worths of the fission products contained in irradiated fuel samples cut from PWR fuel assemblies. The available experimental results have been analysed using the APOLLO code and multigroup cross section libraries processed from JEF1 and the recent JEF2 data base. The comparison between experimental and calculated results given in this paper is a contribution to the first stage of the JEF2 benchmarking on integral experiments.
