Abstract

This paper is an account of the design, development and evaluation of the interactive CD-ROM reading courseware (The READY Course) on low-literate adults. The paper describes the content and design of the READY Course and presents evaluation field test findings in the areas of validity and reliability, and it includes information based on a pre- and posttest design with experimental and control groups. Statistical analysis of reading improvement for the experimental and control groups is provided. Possible future implications for the development of this type of courseware are discussed.
