Abstract
Interoperability among database management systems to provide access to multiple autonomous databases has been a long-standing concern. As open distributed systems become more prevalent, the importance of interoperability among general system components significantly increases. Object-oriented technology is expected to play an importnat role in facilitating interoperability. In this paper we address this issue, examining the problems and possible solutions.
