Abstract

The ability to transfer DNA into living cells has revolutionized the study of biology. Transfection of DNA into mammalian cells is now a widely used technique which, inevitably, has evolved an equally wide number of technical variants. This chapter will describe some of the easiest and most reproducible methods for transferring DNA into a variety of mammalian cells, both those that grow as adherent monolayers and those that grow in suspension.
