Enriching Rules in a Driver Duty Estimator

Abstract

An estimator has been developed; it first analyses the critical relief opportunities of a bus schedule and then produces an assessment of the number of duties and types of duty required to cover the bus schedule. This paper reports the improvement of the estimator. The estimator has been applied to a variety of scheduling problems from bus companies and produced some very good estimates. Some problems are investigated and new rules formulated during the improvement process are described.
