Abstract

This paper describes a speech recognition system which has been implemented at the Institute of Technical Acoustics of the Dresden University of Technology for research purposes. The main topics of interest with this system are the use of knowledge on human speech perception, the event-directed recognition strategy, and the use of syllables as basic units of speech production and perception. The system is implemented on DECstations 5000/125 in the programming language C. System configuration and control are performed by means of a specialized object-oriented interpreter. For the experiments, the German PHONDAT speech data base is applied.
