Zusammenfassung
Allergische Erkrankungen wie Asthma oder atopisches Ekzem haben, insbesondere in den Industrieländern, in den letzten Jahrzehnten deutlich zugenommen. So stieg innerhalb von 15 Jahren bei zwölfjährigen Kindern in Süd-Wales die Prävalenz von Asthma um den Faktor 2 auf 9% und von atopischem Ekzem um den Faktor 3 auf 16% an [1], Epidemiologische Studien konnten eine starke Korrelation zwischen der Zunahme von Sensibilisierungen und allergischen Erkrankungen einerseits und der Exposition gegenüber Innenraumallergenen (Hausstaubmilbe, Katze, Hund, Küchenschabe, Schimmelpilze) andererseits zeigen. Nicht zuletzt ist diese Entwicklung durch Änderungen des Lebensstils mitverursacht. Heutzutage verbringen die meisten Menschen bis zu 90% ihrer Zeit in geschlossenen Räumen; moderne, gut isolierte Häuser mit geringer Luftwechselrate begünstigen eine Akkumulation von Innenraumallergenen [2].
