Zusammenfassung
Das retropatellar Schmerzsyndrom wird charakterisiert durch retropatellare Schmerzen sowie Krepitationen bei Aktivitäten wie beispielsweise Hocken, Treppensteigen, Rennen und Springen. Pseudoblockaden der Kniescheibe, Schnappen der Kniescheibe, Kniesteife und Kniegelenkergüsse können ebenfalls auftreten. Das Schmerzsyndrom wird am häufigsten bei jungen Erwachsenen beobachtet. Eine Form der pathologischen Änderungen im Gelenkknorpel der Patella, die Chondromalazie, wird charakterisiert durch bereits makroskopisch sichtbare Knorpelerweichung, Rissbildung sowie Fragmentation. Diese können retropatellaren Schmerz und Krepitationen bei Aktivitäten hervorrufen, die das Gelenk belasten [5, 6]. Ein retropatellarer Schmerz kann jedoch ebenso wie Krepitationen bei ähnlichen Aktivitäten oder bei Kompression der Kniescheibe durch Reiben gegen die Femurkondylen ohne den Nachweis von Knorpelschäden auftreten.
