Zusammenfassung
Die Ursache der Parkinson-Krankheit ist bis heute unbekannt. Zugrunde liegt ein Mangel an dem Überträgerstoff Dopamin in den Basal-oder Stammganglien des Gehirns. Das Dopamindefizit kann durch direkte Gabe von Dopamin nicht ausgeglichen werden, da Dopamin nicht in das Gehirn eindringt. An seiner Stelle verabreicht man L-Dopa, die Vorstufe des Dopamins. L-Dopa (Levodopa) passiert die Blut-HirnSchranke und wird dann mit Hilfe eines Enzyms in Dopamin überführt.
