Complications following aortoiliac vascular reconstruction seldom occur. They depend on indication and perioperative risk-management, furthermore on a correet operative technique. Complications following aortoiliac vascular surgery, such as reocclusion, bleeding, infection, prosthesis-dilation, aneurysms, pelvic ischemia-syndrome, sexual dysfunction and instestinal ischemia, are discussed. The spectrum of therapeutic options in aortoiliac surgery was never larger than today. This is the reason for the high responsibility of the vascular surgeon, who must be well informed about the different diagnosis and therapy options in aortoiliac surgery.

Zusammenfassung

Komplikationen nach aortofemoralen Rekonstruktionen sind selten. Sie sind abhängig von einer sauberen Indikationsstellung, einer risikoadaptierten Therapie und einer subtilen Präparations- und Operationstechnik. Die vorliegende Arbeit diskutiert Komplikationen wie Verschlüsse, Blutungen, Infekte, Prothesendilatationen, Nahtaneurysmen, pelvines Ischämiesyndrom, sexuelle Dysfunktion und intestinale Ischamie nach aortoiliakaler Gefäßchirurgie. Noch nie war das Spektrum gefäßchirurgischer Therapiemöglichkeiten größer als heute. Dies bedeutet eine besondere Verantwortlichkeit des Gefäßchirurgen, der die Diffenzialdiagnostik und Thera-pie im Einzelnen beherrschen muss: Wer die Wahl hat, hat die Qual.
