Zusammenfassung
Die Kenntnis der anatomischen Verhältnisse der supraaortalen Gefäße und ihrer anatomischen Varianten ist unabdingbare Voraussetzung für jede diagnostische oder therapeutische Intervention an den hirnversorgenden Gefäßen. Sowohl bei extra- als auch intrakraniellen Gefäßstenosen oder -verschlüssen können präformierte Kollateralkreisläufe kompensatorisch die Blutzufuhr zum Gehirn aufrechterhalten.
