Zusammenfassung

Menschen, die an Epilepsie erkranken, haben meist wenig Vorstellung von möglichen Konsequenzen der Erkrankung. Eine umfassende Aufklärung ist daher eine wesentliche Beratungsfunktion des Arztes (Santilli, 1992; Betts, 1991). Hierzu gehört auch der Hinweis auf mögliche Verletzungen durch Anfälle, auch um den Sinn einer medikamentösen Anfallsprophylaxe zu unterstreichen (Tabellen 7.1–7.4). Insbesondere Sportunfälle werden von den Patienten im Voraus kaum bedacht (Tabelle 7.2). In diesem Zusammenhang prokonvulsiv können sich folgende Faktoren auswirken:

  • extreme Anstrengung

  • Schlafmangel

  • Hypoxie bei sehr anstrengender Aktivität

  • Hyponatriämie bei Elektrolytverlust

  • Hypernatriämie bei Dehydratation

  • Hyperthermie bei physischer Erschöpfung und Hitze

  • Hypoglykämie bei unzureichender Ernährung vor der sportlichen Aktivität
