)as klinische Bild einer zentralen pontinen Myelinolyse (ZPM) wurde 1949 geschrieben, als ein 38-jähriger Patient, der imBoston City Hospitalwegen)elirium tremensund einer Lungenerkrankung hospitalisiert war, eine Tetaplegie, Mutismus und Dysphagie entwickelte. Die Neurologen Maurice Tictor und Raymond Adams vermuteten eine Schädigung des Pons, die eilen bilateralen Befall der Pyramidenbahn erklären würde. Die Autopsie er-,ab eine Läsion im Brückenfuß, die im Wesentlichen das Myelin betraf ind Axone aussparte. Es bestand keine Gefäßveränderung.
