Zusammenfassung
Patienten mit schweren linksventrikulären Funktionsstörungen haben trotz einer verbesserten Arzneimitteltherapie eine schlechte Prognose und sind häufing auf eine Herztransplantation angewiesen. Angesichts rückläufiger Organspenden und einem gleichzeitig steigenden Organbedarf besteht eine dringende Notwendigkeit, neue Behandlungsstrategien zu entwickeln. Künstliches, in vitro hergestelltes Herzgewebe (Tissue Engineering) könnte als Gewebeersatz eine neue Option zur Behandlung darstellen, wenn bestimmte Voraussetzungen erfüllt sind. Dies sind v. a. Methoden zur Herstellung von ausreichend dicken Gewebekonstrukten mit optimierter kontraktiler Funktion, ihre Integration ins Empfängermyokard sowie die Verfügbarkeit von geeignetem und ausreichendem Zellmaterial.
