Zusammenfassung
Die Indikation für artifizielle Blutpumpen ist derzeit das terminale Herzversagen ohne Aussicht auf Besserung durch medikamentöse Therapie. Daher werden sie als Überbrückung zur Transplantation („bridge to transplant“), als Überbrückung zur Erholung des geschädigten Herzens („bridge to recovery“) oder als Alternative zur Herztransplantation („alternative to transplant“) implantiert. Bei parakorporalen Systemen liegen die Blutpumpen außerhalb des Körpers und sind über Kanülen mit dem Herz und den großen Gefäßen verbunden. Diese Systeme werden v.a. bei zu erwartenden kürzeren Implantationszeiten eingesetzt.
