Complete transposition of the great arteries

  • Chapter
Congenital Heart Defects

Abstract

Complete transposition of the great arteries is the 6th most common congenital heart defect (4.7% of all congenital heart defects), and the second most common congenital heart disease encountered in early infancy, for 0.2–0.4/1000 of live births. It is also the most common cause of transfer to the cardiac care in neonates. Transposition of the great arteries is more frequent in males.
