Zusammenfassung
Bei der Aufarbeitung von 31516 Arthroskopieberichten des Kniegelenkes wurde 1997 19826 mal eine Verletzung des Gelenkknorpels festgestellt (Curl et al. 1997). Aufgrund der schlechten Regenerationsfähigkeit des Gelenkknorpels wird vermutet, dass unbehandelte Läsionen des Gelenkknorpels, zumindest im Kniegelenk, zu einer frühzeitigen Arthrose führen können.
