Abstract
The Efficient Consumer Response (ECR) initiative has shown rapid progress all over the European retail market in recent years. Although the rate of progress differs from country to country in Europe, there is a common baseline of technology helping to realize the benefits promised in the ECR concept papers. The progress therefore is without doubt also a progress of technologies enabling ECR. Enabling technologies like EDI or Data Alignment (e.g. SINFOS in Germany, see the article by Günter Wagener) have standardized various processes between retailers and suppliers providing significant benefits for both sides of the supply chain.
