Zusammenfassung

Die Indikationsgruppe der Ophthalmika umfaßt Präparate, die lokal oder in einzelnen Fällen auch systemisch bei Augenkrankheiten gegeben werden. Solche Präparate werden ganz überwiegend von Ophthalmologen, daneben vor allem von Allgemeinmedizinern verordnet (vgl. Kapitel 52). Sie erreichen hohe Verordnungszahlen, tragen aber wegen günstiger Kosten zu den Gesamtumsätzen des Arzneimittelmarktes weniger bei. Insgesamt hat es 1998 bei den Verordnungen von Ophthalmika deutliche Rückgänge gegeben, die im Mittel fast 6 % betrugen, bei einzelnen Präparaten jedoch erheblich höher ausfielen. Diesem abnehmenden Trend haben sich im wesentlichen Neuerungen, wie die Glaukommittel Trusopt, Alphagan, Xalatan, das Antiallergikum Alomide, der Filmbildner Liposic sowie die Gyrasehemmstoffe entzogen (Tabelle 38.1).
